Sonic Trip Project is
a UK project lead by Vince Cory (Red Elektra 69, Ahs Magna, and many others).
It features a full band with bass, drums, electronics and Sunhair (Horst) has
even performed with them as well. There
are 4 releases on bandcamp now. This CD features 4 long tracks. Open elevator
Seven starts things off with a nice Hawkwind like vibe and acoustic guitar
complimented with space sounds, which at 3mins takes a dramatic turn in the
mood with a new guitar line, the addition of drums and base a groove!! Vince
really lets it rip in the guitar later. Scarab Nebula is quite spacey and
hypnotic with an quite low fi sound to it. The organ really takes the lead and
the riff is quite heavy at times, while the space sounds bubble and spark!
Trippy stuff indeed a Sonic Trip!
The title track is very spacey and slow building. The drums and bass
are mixed quite low so you sort of sense the movement of a groove while the
layers of space sounds are more to the front. A dreamy synth line comes in
later. Very spaced out.
Cairo Neon is listed as the 3rd track but is actually the
last track and is a long 34min jam with Horst (aka Sunhair) plus Phil Cory on
lead guitar. Very intense piece of music at times. This track was also recorded
live but I am not sure if it is from the same gig or not?? It is a high energy
grooving space rock number with some nice lead guitar work and driving drums
and bass. It gets really spacey at times and then more heavy and rocking again.
Great piece. Check out part of it below.
The self titled number finishes the CD-R off.
