Khelas Collective- Azére, Portugal March 29th, 2026

This was a really cool gathering at a guy name Sancho´s Quinta 15mins outside of Tabúa. It was not easy to find though.  When I arrived about 1630, there was about 50 people I guess.  You could attend for free and they had a bar with all kinds of drinks for purchase or free water and if you paid 13€ you could get a stamp and have all you can eat pizza. I am sure there were plenty who did not pay though, as no one was checking if you had a stamp or not!!

About 1730, some folks got up and played some songs with acoustic guitar and accordion and then I guess it was 18 or a bit later Khelas started to play. They are a lovely four piece band with Kate on piano, trumpet and melodica, backing and sone lead vocals, Laura- Guitar, saxophone, and lead vocals (most songs), Shiv- Bass and Spanish raps, and Pedro on drums.  They had recently recorded 3 songs in my studio (all of which were played). I was looking forward to hear the rest of their 15 original songs.

They started off with a bit of a sound check jam and then did some reggae tracks, Country Living (not the Gladiators song!). Some of it was a bit lose but cool songs. They leave it a bit open in their song structures for longer solos or just some raps by Shiv.. Clearly a band having a lot of fun. Most of the audience was not really paying attention a lot of the time.  Lots of kids running around.  People danced to the reggae stuff.  It was a few peoples birthday so they did a birthday song and they brought out some cakes. Fun….The sun was directly behind the band so it was difficult to watch them until the sun went down for the last 25mins or so…

Set List: Jam, Too High, Forest or the Trees, Country Living, Love over War, Feminine Vibration, Birthday Song, Feet on the Ground, Where the time Goes, Sea of Gold, How long it lasts, ?, Do you Wonder, last piece with a guy on Accordion

I look forward to see them again..  Met some folks I knew but mostly it was new people or people I had only seen at markets or other places..   Check the band out as they will soon release these three songs.

Claus Weiergang: A Danish Metal Legend, of sorts!! RIP

Claus Weiergang, was one crazy dude. I first met him in 1997 on Pushers Street where he was selling hash and weed and blasting out great music. I would chat with him about all sorts of things related to music. He invited me up to his place and we watched these crazy late night cable TV shows (Kanal København: Metal Fabrikken.) with him and his friends hanging out with strippers and doing bongs on TV while showing HM videos of the era. Wow. You would never see anything like that in the USA, so it was far out for me.

Claus primarily played bass in several bands and cover projects as well as guitar in a Judas Priest tribute band. Centari, Furious Trauma, Gutrix, Jackal (4), Zoser Mez are the bands he is most well know for. I was lucky to get to see Gutrix live one time and that was a really cool band.  One of the projects I loved the most that he played me was Hank´s New Carpet, a really great 70s inspired jam rock band with Hank Shermann from Mercyful Fate!!  Where are those recordings now???

Claus has the rehearsal room for years next door or close by to where ØSC, would have our jam sessions in the early days and he would always pop by with a huge joint and a smile and be curious what we were up to.  He was pretty intense some times and lived life on the edge.

The last time I saw and talked with him for a while was a PIBs (old ØSC drummer) wake at Loppen in December.  He lived his life to the fullest no doubt!!!!  Life was a hell of a party..... RIP

Dr Space and my many projects 2026

What is happening in the world of Dr Space in 2026?

Hope you are all well.. First release of the year is

Imperfect Pyramid, a collaboration with my friend Rob

Lawson (I used to run a web site for his prolific output)

and Dan Greene. This is a mid eastern inspired hour of

music. Check out the bandcamp Dr Space site. CD-R was

very limited and has sold out now. Vol II is nearly finished.

Dr Space´s Wicked Sonic Bulls, was a jam session

with members of Sonic Trip Project (Darren), China Bull

Shop (Tom), Wicked Lady (Martin) and myself. We had 5

space rock jams and a blast on a Saturday morning in

Jan 2026. This was the result.. Check it out on

bandcamp!!

In March or April, a couple of releases will come out on

Echodelick Records. First, a split LP with Øresund

Space Collective and Psychedelic Source Recordings

(Hungary). The ØSC track is one long track from the

2024 studio session, while the PSR side features three

cool tracks. Limited to 150 copies, I believe.

Next is a new project created by Chino and Pepe (both

from La Ira de Dios-Peru). I was asked to add some

spacey layers and I feel like it really works well. The

band is called UMMA and the album is Cosmosvisiones

and will be released on Echodelik records.

This is pretty spaced out. Pepe and I have already worked

on some stuff so I am sure you will hear more from UMMA..

Last year in March I traveled to the USA (Boston) and

made some very interesting music with Dr Joe Paradiso,

who has built one of the worlds largest modular synths.

Together we created around 4 hrs of music. Our first

release is ready but since I can not ship to the USA, we

are waiting but this will come out in 2026 for sure… IT is

called Dr Paradiso meets Dr Space- Liquid

Planetscapes. 100 Copies on CD..

https://drspace1.bandcamp.com/album/liquid-planetscapes

'The Univerzals- Chaos and Ecstasy will finally come out in

2026 but I am not sure in what formats. Anyway, Nicolas Robinson is a great

song writer and guitarist and also plays in ØSC. He has recently been

making music with Dave Evans (the original AC/DC singer) but this is way

better, his own music!!! I am really proud to have played some synths on 3

tracks. The album was mixed by Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, etc..).

Space Rock Productions, our record label, released two albums by Nick 10

and he actually started the label! Glad we are still working together!!

Øresund Space Collective will have another 2LP/2CD

studio album out by the Spaceboat in the summer and

probably Espaço 3 (subscriber CD) as well. Progably

was recorded in 2022 in Portugal with Mattias Olsson on

drums, Jonthan Segel, Hasse Horrigmoe and the rest of

the gang from that session and is mainly 2 long 30+ min

tracks. Espaço 3 was recorded very recently in

November 2025… 2 long spacey tracks (might have 3)..

Now we get sort of into the uncertain…… A lot of projects have been

started and I am not sure when or if these will come out in 2026 or not… I

have recorded a lot of different stuff with the MOOG synth modules and I am

pretty sure I can piece together a very interesting and totally different solo

album than any of my previoius ones. Doctors of Space recorded many

hours of music in 2025 and we have selected the best tracks from 2025 for a

future release. Might only be a digital album or limited CD-

R. Pity… http://doctorsofspace.bandcamp.com

Dr Space´s Mad Elf Mess will come out on Sound Effect records

later this year. We are working out the vinyl and CD at the

moment. This really rocks like hell and has some incredible guitar playing from Vasco (It was the Elf) and Sam (Madmess).. Jonathan from ØSC also plays on this album.  A rough mix is up on bandcamp.

Lamp of the Universe meets Dr Space, tracks have been laid down and

when Craig has time, he will make the mix or he can send me the tracks and

I can mix it but the music exists….https://drspace1.bandcamp.com/album/lamp-of-the-universe-meets-dr-

space

Dr Space’s Alien Planet Trip Vol 9- Space with Bass V is mixed and just

needs some mastering and artwork. Only 3 tracks on this volume. I suspect

Space with Bass VI will get recorded this year when Hasse returns to

Portugal in the new months.. Link to Vol 8 below….

bass-iv

Dr Space´s Alien Planet Trip Vol 10 is well overdue and I am still waiting for

some guitar overdubs from another guitar player but Rich from Carlton

Melton has sent his parts and these two tracks sound awesome…. This

should be finished before summer, I hope..

Thanks for all the support and friendship and look forward to collaborate

with more amazing musicians in the future.. Peace..

Trancestors- The Music and Art of Quietman (BlackUnicorn Recordings)

Local underground rave scene legend, Larry Lush and his partner in trance, Wilf are Quietman. This is a fantastic package and value; the hardback book and download code…  It is also out on a CD. Anyway this is nearly 75mins of music and 19 tracks that harkens back to the 80s-90s when the rave scene became the trance scene.  Now there are many subdivisions of trance..  I guess this one would be called classic..

For every song, there is an associated page with painting, drawing and description. Some are specifically about the song and others more general knowledge and information.  I am so impressed with this package..

Larry and I have also made some music in Øresund Space Collective and in my studio as well.  Anyway, fans of old school rave music will dig this and it nice to sit with the amazing artbook and hear the tracks and descriptions..  Check it out..

Hanna & Jerry- Relaxed (OUTERDISK OD2221222)

This group is a duo of duo Hanna Östergren/Jerry Johansson.  Hanna has been in a number of psychedelic bands like HIlls, Laughing Eye, and DJINN.  Jerry is known for his sitar playing and leading the act Grovjobb. This most excellent album features 5 tracks.  Some of the tracks have bass and drums and others are just floating, eastern inspired psych, like being in a dream. Remains starts things off like an Indian raga and good Sunday morning piece of music with some drum accompaniment.  Silence continues with another raga but Hanna adds in some Rhodes and other instruments along the way like the Shruti box. Still is a very short under 3min Rhodes and Mellotron track with some interesting other additions to keep it anything but normal!!  Side B starts off with the track Mountain and some nice banjo with some original and traditional parts. Hanna plays the bass and drums on this one. After a while it really builds up in tempo and reminds me of something Hills might do but without the banjo!! Dawn ends the album with a 12min raga with some field recordings of birds, a drone, flute and a cool vibe.  Nice album for a sunday morning…

Jerry Johansson: sitar, banjo, Mellotron, guitar
Hanna Östergren: drums, organ, Rhodes, Mellotron, bass,
voice, flute, percussion, shruti box, field recordings, album mixing

Gregg McKella- Songs from the Underground (GM001CD)

Most of you will know Gregg from his band Paradise 9.  This CD features a lot of songs from his old busking days that he felt it was time to record properly. He worked closely with Martin Litmus at his studio to create this lovely album of personal songs and memories. The album features 11 original songs and one cover (Motherless Children). Gregg primarily plays acoustic guitar but he also plays glissando guitar, a bit of clarinet, synth… Martin plays the bass, keys, synths, percussion, backing vocals… This was a true musical collaboration and successful.  Both guys have a background in space rock but this is more like spacey busker music, space folk. Check it out. It is out on CD now..

L.Don Okomi- Banjo Machine Music (Self Released)

It was an honour to be invited to play on this CD/LP, which was released in December. Sadly, I was unable to attend the release party on Dec 27th, as many of the players who are featured here did. Anyway, this is experimental banjo music like you have not heard before. A totally unique album featuring 6 tracks. Don plays the Harmonium and two different types of banjos. It is one track but features mixes or additions by different people, so each track becomes a unique piece of music. Check out the bandcamp page for more details and ordering. You can also buy the CD and LP from me. Just write…

SULA BASSANA - Time Travel - Rare & Obscure Tracks From The Decades (Self Released)

This is a super cool release of unreleased and rare tracks from all eras of Sula´s solo career and it starts off with a rocking track called Ridin´. This is live from Hamburg 2024, the same show that the tracks that were released on the split LP with Skyjoggers… Krachgarten (from 2012) did appear on a bandcamp compilation before. Really cool bass line on this track and nice delay guitars. A great space rock track in the end. Wow.. Arkelanfall is a short electrronic piece with Modulfix from 2009. Totally different vibe than the rock that started the CD. Trippy….

Animal Farm is a very funny one from 2008 with drums and Farm animal samples… This one drove our dogs crazy!! Was Du Denkst (2006) is a real archive recording and Dave thinks it is from 2006..

Soulcake is a cool track that appeared on a Greek Compilation CD in 2011 but has a much earlier orgin, late 90s early 2000s… A nice laid back and spacey vibe to this one with a hypnotic riff.  Fiebertraum is from the later 90s and appeared on the rare Sulatronics CD-R (I own it!!)… Very drony and spacey synths to start.  It slowly builds up with some intense drums and repeatitive synth lines and the tension builds but slowly drops off over time..A bit TD like Paranoid? i is also from the Sulatronics CD and quite a long track at 13mins.  Super cool track… Suomenlinna was inspired by being on a Finnish Island in the late 90s.. Very laid back and trippy with loads of interesting manpulated sounds and repeated fender rhodes like keyboard line.  Dreamy…  Pilzwald, at 33 mins is quite the musical adventure. A very experimental track with Alexander Bulgrin, back then the singer (or ex singer) of Liquid Visions. This was recorded live and is quite the space out..

Maybe it will come out on a CD one day.. Enjoy..

Stonerhenge- Hecto Fuzz (Self Released 2025)

Dust to Dust opens with a classic stoner rock riff and groove but has a many cool parts and solos over the 12mins.. Closed Labryinth (8min) slows things down and is sung in his native language as well and features a sample (in English) that comes in at the beginning.  Very clean production and sound but the programmed drums are a bit annoying at times. About 2.5mins in the riff gets heavy.. Some nice keyboard and synth work by Timur Reizis as the track evolves. Vocals are by ŹMICIER ŁUKJANČYK. Disturbing Dreams (over 9mins) starts with some nice melodic guitar with some delays on it before the drums come in and a lovely guitar solo. The track gets more heavy after 3mins. Interesting balance with the laid back vocals of Zmicier.  Always interesting to hear a voice and not have any clue what he is singing. The female English spoken word is back at the end of the track. Great track. Space Comics Hero kicks up the speed with a more rocking track with a classic HM riff!! Some nice spacey sounds on this track as well at times. The title track starts with some synths and drums and then the heavy riff kicks in.  Super cool and melodic guitar solo on this track.. Maybe the best on the record.  THe album ends with Intersellar Racing, another 9 min track with a steady beat and nice delay guitars to start..  This is also a great track and a powerful faded out ending. Ripple should release this. WOuld be a lot more powerful with real drums as well.

Here is a synopsis of the record by Serge:

“A wandering through the pages of the science fiction anthology «Hecto Fuzz», six issues of which are dedicated to various aspects of human existence and humanity. We invite you to a musical journey — from prehistory, antiquity, the recent past, and a look toward a possible future.

Throughout history, Man has periodically approached another edge. The edge of the world known to Man at that moment in time. The edge of knowledge, the edge of skills, the edge of hope, and the edge of technology.

Only biological imperfection interrupts this cyclical process — dust to dust. And the banner of conquering yet another frontier is taken up by the next generation. The endless quest to understand oneself, the world around us, and one's place in it—these are the main themes explored by the musicians on this album. Welcome to a world of dreams and hopes!”
