The Deepest Cut- 21st Anniversary Edition (Black Unicorn Records)

The Deepest Cut was produced 21 years ago by Caspar Pound and Laurence Elliott-Potter's collaboration as The New London School of Electronics. Below is a description of the album and some of the tracks by Larry.

“THE DEEPEST CUT, and if the opening twinkles of "Air Check" doesn't clue you in that you're "able to get swept away in a wave of ambient music, nothing will.

Indeed, the gamelan of "The Queen and the Eclipse" hums with quiet intent, while "Georgia" leans much more on the electronics to accompany its initial plaintive piano melody. The meditative "Mandella With The Golden Hair" seems created to induce a zen trance (despite the occasional deep bass hits), while "Mistersorphine" kicks off with a wistful chanson sample, as the track itself comes and goes, as if blinking in and out of existence.

"Off," on the other hand, stays present the whole time, throbbing in the prayerful darkness. The Deepest Cut, the title track, after a major key intro, quickly switches into an urgent minor key melody that sets the tempo even when it disappears whilst he closer, "Dream to Dawn," returns to pure ambience in a swirling concoction.”

it is a beautiful sounding collection of tracks with lots of small sonic surprises around each corner. Good old analog synths sounds mixed into the layers of simple repeated themes.

PIB´s Farewell Party- Loppen, Christiania Nov 26th, 2025

Peter IB, played drums with ØSC from 2007 to 2012, almost full time and he played now and again until 2015… Sadly, PIB lost his battle with cancer. There was a funeral earlier in the day but this was a dinner for close friends and musicians and 3 musical acts. It started with a nice speech and then Sorte Per started things off with a 50 min set of original music. PIB had played with all these guys in different jams, and bands before as well. It was all sung in Danish and some great and funny songs..

Vionysos Skål, Par og Per, Ca Drømme, Tagernes Høj!, tak skal du há, ?, Business Blues, I mi hjælpe mig, En Hvildes Ballale

Music for Hearts, a duo wtih Thomas Thor played a short set of 18mins or so and a lot of small speeches about PIB..  Everyone had a good story to tell…

There was a long break now for nearly 3hrs and then ØSC played at 21… It was so smokey inside that I could not be in Loppen anymore so stood outisde the entrance where there was som good air and talked to who ever came by…

ØSC was: Me, Mogens, Mattias, Mikkel and Jiri in the first set.  We did like 2 jams and I told a bit of a story about PIB in the middle for a few mins.  It was too smokey and I was really suffering so I had to leave but the guys played some more with Lasse on Bass afterwards-.
